QLA Voice – Terms of Sale and Licence

Last updated: 4 October 2026.

1. About us and these terms

QLA Voice is supplied by Owen Brazier, trading as QLA Voice, a sole trader based in the United Kingdom ("we", "us"). Our geographic address is 115 Woden Road East, Wednesbury, WS10 9RD. Email: qlavoice@outlook.com. These terms apply when you use QLA Voice, and when you buy a licence. If you buy a teacher licence as an individual, we treat you as a consumer and section 8 applies, even if you use QLA Voice for your work. If a school or other organisation buys, it is a business customer and section 9 applies.

2. What QLA Voice is

QLA Voice lets you enter assessment marks by speaking them, into Microsoft Excel (add-in) or web-based marksheets (browser extension). Speech is recognised on your device. It is not affiliated with, or endorsed by, Microsoft, Google, or any assessment provider.

What you need: a microphone, and either Google Chrome (version 116 or later) for the extension, or Microsoft Excel (Microsoft 365) with the add-in installed by your school's IT team. QLA Voice works only with a valid licence key. The versions we have tested are listed on our Getting started page; please check it works on your computers before relying on it.

3. Licences

QLA Voice needs a valid licence key to work. There is no free trial. Every licence is bought with a single, one-off payment and lasts 12 months. Licences do not renew automatically and you will not be charged again. To keep using QLA Voice after 12 months, you can buy a new licence.

4. Your licence

5. Price and payment

The price is shown before you buy and is the total price we charge. We are not registered for VAT, so we don't charge VAT. It is a one-off payment, not a subscription. Payment is taken by Stripe; we never see your card details. Once we have confirmed your payment, your licence key is sent to the email address you gave at checkout, normally within 1 working day (or when 14 days have passed, if you chose that at checkout; see section 8). For a school licence, we email the purchaser to collect the staff names and work email addresses, then send each member of staff their own key.

We sell licences to customers in the United Kingdom only. If a purchase is made from outside the UK, we will refund it in full and won't issue a key.

6. Accuracy – please check your marks

QLA Voice is designed to enter only the numbers you say, and to ignore other speech. But speech recognition is not perfect. In particular, a single word that sounds like a number can occasionally be entered, and the marks after it then go into the following boxes. Always check the marks QLA Voice has entered before relying on them (the "recent entries" list helps). You remain responsible for the accuracy of the assessment records you keep.

7. Updates and support

We may update QLA Voice to fix problems, keep it working with Excel and browsers, or improve it. Support: qlavoice@outlook.com.

8. If you are a consumer

9. If you are a business customer (e.g. a school)

10. Ending a licence

A licence ends automatically 12 months after it starts (see section 3); nothing renews and no further payment is taken. We may end your licence early if you seriously break these terms (for example, by sharing licence keys). You may stop using QLA Voice at any time. Ending a licence doesn't affect your statutory rights (section 8).

If we end a licence early, we will tell you why by email.

11. Complaints

If you're unhappy with QLA Voice, email qlavoice@outlook.com. We aim to reply within 5 working days. If we can't resolve your complaint, we will tell you in writing, and tell you whether an alternative dispute resolution service is available and whether we will use it.

12. Privacy

See our Privacy Policy.

13. Law

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. If you are a consumer living in Scotland or Northern Ireland, you can also bring proceedings in your local courts.
